Congratulations Kayla!

Those that know her best know this, those that play club volleyball know this, her future coaches at Howard University know this, and her high school coach Danyel del Rosario knows this.

But Nanuet needed her to be more than just a setter, so she took on a significant portion of the Golden Knights’ hitting responsibilities. While her 5-foot-7 frame does not lend itself well to the position, her 30-inch vertical leap does more than enough to make up for it.

“I think it’s made me an all-around player, being able to hit in high school and then go back to setting,” said Diaz, who is this year’s Journal News/lohud Rockland girls volleyball Player of the Year. “I think it definitely helped me out for college.”
