Downstate 15 Red wins Mizuno New England Winterfest!
First, Congratulations to all the teams on another wonderful season! Our end of season banquet is right around the corner. For the second year, our celebration will be held at the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theater. It is a fun night for the girls to get dressed up and be recognized for their efforts and achievements from the season. We will be having a silent auction with gift baskets donated by each team. In the past we have had some very nice baskets which have generated a good amount of money to help in paying for the teams going to Nationals. Each team is requested to donate a gift basket. Example of previous baskets donated are: Beach theme, BBQ theme, Lottery, Movie, Theater tickets, Sporting event tickets, Golf outings, etc… Please bring your team basket to the banquet.

This weekend at the Mizuno New England Winterfest the Downstate 15 Red team took the open championship in amazing fashion. The team went 9-1 in matches on the weekend including winning every playoff match in straight sets! The team really came together this weekend and amazed everyone with a complete team effort. If you watched them play in the gold division playoffs you might have thought this team had been playing together a full season with the intensity and passion they had. After an undefeated day in pool play on day one the team managed to go 2-1 on day two with one tough 3 set loss. In the playoffs the team defeated 3 GEVA teams and Lakeside from the Albany area on their way to the championship. The most exciting match of the weekend was probably the semi-final match against the Lakeside Gators where the team came back from 24-20 to win the match 26-24 and then the second set 25-22. In the finals the team dominated Apex 15 Matrix 25-14 25-18 to take the championship. The team played together and won this championship because of it.
