Do you have any advice to offer parents? Getting your kids involved in team sports is a gift you give them for life. Volleyball is a game that instills confidence, commitment, teamwork, strategic thinking and so much more. Once they’re in sports, parents can never be too positive when supporting them. After a great game or a rough match, players are looking for positivity and understanding and support. Nothing beats a hug from mom and dad.
Kids don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." -Vince Lombardi
This past weekend, Downstate 18 Black went 5-0 to win Pool 2 of the GEVA Power League Red Division. Congratulations 18 Black!
After finishing pool play with the set record of 7–1, 16 Red took the first place ranking in pool B and moved into the semis with the best overall record from both pools.
16 Red got past their semifinal challenger in straight sets. AG Waves put up a fight in the second set, but could not overcome the Downstate service pressure and scrappy Defense.
The finals showcased a rematch of pool play opponent 16 Mirage. 16 Red handily won the first set, but 16 Mirage battled hard in the second set. However, 16 Red Fireball outpaced them in the end to win the final in straight sets.
Annmarie Sumski was selected to sing the National Anthem at the Capitol Hill Classic in Washington DC last weekend. Way to go AM!
Outstanding job to 15 Red for winning the Performance 15 Club Tournament last weekend! A big thank you to Coach Kurt and Assistant Coach Michelle for leading us to our third win this season. 15 Red won all matches without losing any sets by sticking to the basics and maintaining clear communication and focused teamwork. Keep up the good work ladies and let’s continue our winning streak at Capitol Hill next weekend!
